Why we exist
A different kind of childcare agency
KhayaBuntu was created to bring more intention, respect, and humanity into the childcare industry. We don’t believe in treating childcare like a transaction, it’s about welcoming the right person into your home and your family’s village.
For Families, that means a thoughtful approach to finding caregivers who are not only qualified, but who are the right fit for your family.
For Caregivers, it means being recognized as professionals whose experience, knowledge, and work deserves respect.
Our support doesn’t have to end when placement begins. Our goal is to help foster healthy, respectful, and lasting relationships between families and caregivers. Caregivers remain part of the KhayaBuntu caregiving community, with continued access to future opportunities, and potential placements that align with their experience, goals, and availability.
🏡The Right Match
We take time to understand your family’s needs, routines, values, and priorities. Then thoughtfully connect families and caregivers based on compatibility, experience, and shared expectations.
For Families: Care that fits your household and childcare needs.
For Caregivers: Opportunities that align with your skills and experience.
🎓Growing Together
At KhayaBuntu we believe that investing in caregivers benefits everyone. We encourage professional development, continued learning, and opportunities for families to support their caregivers’ growth.
From specialized childcare education to skill-building opportunities, growth can help caregivers advance their careers while bringing even more value to their families they serve.
🤝 The Village
Childcare works best when families and caregivers feel connected, respected, and valued.
KhayaBuntu is building a community where childcare professionals can connect with future opportunities, families can find trusted care, and everyone involved can feel like they are part of something bigger than a single placement.

Meet the Founder
The Heart Behind KhayaBuntu
Built from a love for children, a belief in community, and a desire to do things differently.
My name is Lariza Salinas; I am the founder of KhayaBuntu.
For more than a decade, childcare has been more than a career for me. It has been a place where I’ve built relationships, supported families through some of their most important seasons, and had the privilege of watching their children grow.
My journey in childcare began at 18 years old in South Africa working as a Kindergarten teachers assistant for 2 years. Then I came to the United States as an Au Pair at the age of 20 years old, what started as an opportunity to experience life in a new country became the beginning of a career I never expected to love so deeply.
Over the years, I’ve worn many different hats - Teacher, Au Pair, Babysitter, Nanny, House Manager and have cared for children through many different stages and seasons of family life. I’ve supported families with everything from newborn care and sleep routines to emotional regulation, feeding, developmental milestones, to riding bikes to school drop-off and pick-up, everyday moments that that make up childhood.
Throughout those years, I began to see something that stayed with me.
Finding the right family and caregiver can be incredibly difficult.
Families aren’t simply looking for someone to watch their children. They are looking for someone that they can trust in their home, someone who respect their values, someone who understands their children and someone who genuinely cares.
At the same time, I saw how often professional caregivers were treated as an afterthought rather than the skilled professionals that they are.
I wanted to create something that could serve both sides of the relationship.
That is where KhayaBuntu began.
Why KhayaBuntu?
KhayaBuntu brings together two South African words that represent the heart of what I believe childcare should be.
Khaya means home.
Ubuntu is a South African philosophy centered around our shared humanity- the belief that who we are is shaped through our relationships with one another.
Together KhayaBuntu represents something simple:
Home and Community
Because I believe childcare is about more than filling a position.
It’s about welcoming the right person into your home and into your family’s village.
