Grow With Us
Because the right support should grow with you
At KhayaBuntu, we believe growth is part of the journey.
Caregivers grow through experience, education, new skills, and meaningful opportunities. Families grow as their children reach new stages and their needs change.
Our Grow community is designed to support both.
Whether you’re a caregiver looking to build your career or a family looking for trusted resources to strengthen your village, we’re here to help you keep growing.
For Caregivers
Grow Your Skills. Grow Your Experience. Grow Your Opportunities.
Childcare is a profession, and there is always more to learn.
The more you develop your knowledge and experience, the more value you can bring to the families you work with - and the more opportunities you can pursue throughout your career.
KhayaBuntu encourages caregivers to continue learning and developing skills that can help them become more confident, knowledgeable, and well-rounded childcare professionals.
Areas to Explore
Depending on your interests and career goals, you may choose to explore additional education or training in areas such as:
Child development
Early childhood education
Child psychology and emotional development
Newborn care
Sleep support and sleep training
Potty learning
Baby-led weaning and infant feeding
Emotional regulation and positive discipline
Special-needs childcare
Montessori and other educational approaches

These are just starting points. Your interests, experience, and goals will help shape your own path.
Your Experience Has Value
As you gain experience and develop additional skills, you may become qualified for different types of opportunities.
You might begin as a mother’s helper and grow into a nanny role. You may develop a specialty in newborn care, sleep support, or child development. You may eventually pursue a house manager position, travel role, or another specialized opportunity.
Growth can open doors.
Additional education and experience do not automatically determine compensation, but they can strengthen your qualifications and help you pursue roles where your knowledge and skills are valued.
At KhayaBuntu, we want to help you recognize the value you bring to a family - and continue building on it.
Grow With KhayaBuntu
Your placement doesn’t have to be the end of the relationship.
When you become part of the KhayaBuntu caregiving community, we hope you’ll stay connected.
As new opportunities become available, caregivers may have opportunities to connect with families for:
Future nanny placements
Babysitting
Short-term childcare
Travel opportunities
Specialized childcare roles
Other opportunities that align with your experience
As your experience grows, your profile and opportunities can grow with you.
We want KhayaBuntu to be a community you can return to throughout your career-not simply a place you visit when you’re looking for your next job.
For Families
Grow Your Village
You don’t have to do it all alone.
KhayaBuntu is more than a childcare placement service. We’re building a community of trusted resources that can support families through the different stages of childhood.

Our goal is simple: connect you with resources that can add value to your family’s journey.
Opportunities to Learn
Keep Growing.
We’re continually exploring opportunities to connect our community with educational resources, workshops, courses, certifications, and other learning opportunities.
For caregivers, that may mean developing a new professional skill.
For families, it may mean learning something new about their child’s development or finding a resource that supports their current stage of parenting.
This page will continue to grow alongside our community.
The KhayaBuntu Philosophy
We believe growth creates opportunity.
For caregivers, growth can mean gaining experience, developing new skills, discovering your strengths, and opening the door to new opportunities.
For families, growth can mean finding the right support, discovering resources, and building a village that evolves alongside your children.
And for KhayaBuntu, growth means creating a community where families and caregivers can continue to learn, connect, and support one another.
You don’t have to have it all figured out.
You just have to keep growing.
Keep Growing With Us
Whether you’re a caregiver building your career or a family building your village, there’s always room to learn something new.
Let’s grow together.
What to Expect After Your Placement:
-
The first week is about gentle introductions, learning your family’s routines, and building trust.
We recommend allowing one to two weeks of intentional training and transition, especially when a caregiver is new to your family. This may include training alongside a parent, previous caregiver, family member, or another trusted childcare professional who can walk the caregiver through your child’s routines and your family’s preferences.
This gives the caregiver time to learn how your household operates while giving your child the opportunity to become comfortable with someone new.
KhayaBuntu remains available throughout the transition to provide guidance and support when needed.
-
The caregivers follow your child’s established routines while creating a calm, predictable flow to the day.
Depending on your child’s age and needs, this may include nap and sleep routines, feeding and mealtimes, school or activity schedules, play, outings, developmental activities, and transitions throughout the day.
Families and caregivers should communicate about changes to routines, sleep, meals, behavior, or other childcare-related needs so everyone stays on the same page.
The goal isn’t to make every day identical - it’s to create consistency that helps children feel safe, supported, and understood.
-
Open communication helps caregivers and families work together as a team.
Families can expect regular updates about their child’s day, including sleep, meals, activities, mood, milestones, or anything that may need attention.
Families should also keep caregivers informed about changes that may affect the day - such as a child feeling unwell, changes to the schedule, visitors or workers coming into the home, appointments, or other household circumstances that may affect childcare.
When something isn’t working, communicate early. Small adjustments are much easier to make before they become bigger problems.
-
Clear expectations create a healthier working relationship for everyone.
During the first weeks, families and caregivers should openly discuss responsibilities, schedules, household norms, parenting preferences, communication styles, and anything that is especially important to the family.
Your caregiver should understand how your family operates, while also having clear boundaries around what falls within their role.If something needs to change, address it respectfully and directly.
A strong caregiver-family relationship allows both sides to ask questions, clarify expectations, and make adjustments such as - sleep philosophy, discipline, screen time, food, language, grandparents, outings, etc. That’s one of the biggest things a nanny needs to learn.
-
It’s normal for both children and parents to feel a little nervous when introducing someone new into your home.
Children often adjust through consistency, familiarity, and repetition. Trust doesn’t have to happen on the first day - it grows over time as your child learns that this new person is safe, predictable, and dependable.
Give the relationship room to develop. A caregiver may need time to learn your child’s personality, cues, preferences, and rhythms.
The goal isn’t instant perfection. It’s a relationship that grows stronger with consistency, communication, and trust.
